Happy earth day! Welcome back yongle, shyh horng, troy, kenji!
The week is over, though it was pretty slack to start with. I terribly dislike physics lessons in the hot and stuffy lab right after lunch.
Had the boarding programme cooking course today. We learnt how to cook some yellow rice thing with pork and ham and bacon which is very nice and filling, teriyaki chicken wings, vietnamese popiah and tau suan. I didn't know so many people didn't know what tau suan was o.o I always thought that it was like some common dessert. Garlic oil/juice is totally like salt to the wound.
The person who taught us was telling us how she once brought her children to T3 and her son left his bag at some sculpture. They only realised it 5mins later so she sent her son to go get it back, he's super young by the way. And when he got there there was a bomb squad surrounding the bag so he was super traumatised.
The food was nice and made us very full. Lethargic afternoon + good lunch = sleeping everywhere. Took mrt with wei lun and we slept the whole way through. We then explored clementi area looking for the bus stop with 156 lol.
I got stabbed by a chopstick during dinner before going back to boarding school. I expected to have some people on my floor but I was and still am alone, kinda creepy. Alex came for a visit while I was doing my work lol, my first contact with a human so far.
Instead of sitting around in the darkness during earth hour, I decided to go for a run in the darkness so I went for a night run. My original plan was just to occupy myself for the whole hour so I ran along bukit timah road to cold storage before turning into sixth avenue, and running the whole stretch till holland village. When I got there it was only 19mins and I figured I needed to extend my route, so I ran back down to bukit timah road, then ran towards kap. When I got to the goh chok tong junction to turn into boarding school, somehow it didn't feel enough so I ran to coro before running back.
Along the way there were scary parts like total darkness of trees, and getting attacked by invisible twigs and spider webs. One time when I bent down to tie my shoelace, I found a caterpillar on my shorts, I don't think it'll be turning into a butterfly anymore. I think earth hour was pretty sucessful considering the fact that most of the houses I ran past had their lights turned off. But maybe they just went out. Then in the end carbon emissions from generating electricity are reduced but emissions form cars that are being driven to go out during earth hour will increase.
Running along sixth avenue reminded me of orienteering practices and even oc itself.
Running to kap reminded me of all the times we did that as a part, especially when yu hans training team orded.
Running along the ny side of bukit timah road reminded me of the time bertrand, jing yao, joash, marcus, yu jie, ZHI HAO and I carried our bags and wanted to run all the way to mac ritchie. But the buses were too empty so we decided to give them some business to cheer the drivers up.
Running up driveway on the way back reminded me of sec one mid year camp when zhi yi made us run the driveway on the 2nd night when everyone else was bathing.
Somehow it seems like everything is passing so quickly, before we know it it'll all come to a close.
That run lasted 1hour and 25mins and ended at 10. This run is still in progress, we still have this stretch to go through.
I will leave with,
no regrets.
