First we must define student leaders, if not there will be a lot of miscommunication like at the initial part of the camp. We were about the same level as the instructors, just that of course we don't have so much experience and all that lar. So basically we were there to help to facilitate, control and most importantly lead the sec 1s.
At the start, I wasn't that excited about it, just felt like it's gonna be another camp. But on wednesday, as we were getting started on the camp in kah kee hall i was getting quite hyped up, no not cos I saw my group instructor. More of cos i was thinking about being able to like lead lar, sort of like ncc camp, so it's like a preparation camp.
We had some group games in kah kee hall, no ice breakers since they're like in the same class for 1 term already, should at least know each other's names, if not quite shi bai. I took 1E for the camp, my sec 1 class heh. And i realised they're alot like 1E'06. Okay firstly there's someone like shuin jian, his brother. And there are those who like to run around and get attention, shan't mention who they're like, if not i can be charged for flaming and then for arson also o.o lastly there's this china guy who is like a certain someone from 1E'06 who likes to argue with people everyday and always thinks he's right and call people names. The main difference between him and his 1E'06 counterpart is that he is smarter, he knows how to solve rubiks cube, in fact he is sitting there playing with his rubiks cube wherever he goes, serious. And there's another guy from 1E who is always bullied by the class cos they think he very act smart or something. He cried even before the camp started, sad lar. I had to spend most of my time sitting with him and trying to cheer him up, and trying to get the rest of the group to stop bullying him.
Throughout the camp we mostly worked with those in the same consortium as us. So for proed is mainly yangcheng, shyhhorng, chin yee, guan koi and maung thet. 1E instructors were instructors eph and am(sound like f&n) and 1F instructor david was quite involved with every class also. 1F had only one instructor, so mostly the sl(student leaders) were in charge. We got on the bus and left of marina bay pier. Saw ngpeng walking alone, so emo.
We were told to be sensitive about the mas selamat issue so as not to scare the sec 1s. But it seemed like the sec 1s were excited cos of him, throughout the camp everything also mas selamat mas selamat.
On the boat instructor sulaiman started doing this repeat after me thing, and he kept talking about the same stuff throughout the camp, tricking the sec 1s into saying stuff like do more homework, washing toilets and not eating. Most of the instructors were suprised that the sec 1s actually went to repeat. But usually he'll be like, i'm tired, no i said I'M tired. I had to split away from the majority of my group cos the boat couldn't accomodate all of us.
We reached st john island, and i saw the instructors and sl special dormitory. It's basically a fenced up area with a roof, and anyone can look in. Each class has 2 groups, mine is group 9 and chin yees is group 10. We went to make flag and choose group name, my group wanted to choose banana or something then the guy who always gets bullied went to write a B and he got scolded so he go emo again and i had to go get him back. After much time wasting they decided on spartans. Group 10 is called emo. And there is one group called ji. Damn scary lar, one of the mornings suddenly got police walking around. What if the instructor suddenly shout "JI GATHER"
After that was lunch, they had to do this hungry cheer.

For the dessert they had these balls of cream puffs, and the isntructor giving out the cream puff was like ball this ball that, "one person take how many balls" "wah got so many balls" "you eat the ball already or not" "take the ball not the fork" "stop balling"
Then it started raining. The sl were supposed to go pitch tent, but weicher, zhe wei, chin yee and i were told to stay and help for camp preperation. Then we see all the sl pitching the tents we want to go help they don't let us go, in the end they say we pang seh them, so sad =( the proedians were like very unenthu, they were supposed to do cheering and stuff for the campfire but all of them were like sit there talk talk talk stare at the beach. Then david went to act pissed and we had to take over to get the group to be more enthusiastic. After that they really cheered lar, 2 classes own aphelion 4 classes. lol i can't say i one person can shout louder than all of you anymore. Seeing the sl all pitching tents in the heavy rain, i was thinking so fun lar, since i like being in the rain o.o okay nevermind.
After they finished with the campfire preperation we went to help, all of them were soaked, and the water in the field was like ankle high. I went in, then solomon told me "becareful, got a lot of spiders and centipedes" i looked down at my now brown and mud soaked shoes and saw a centipede crawling out of it and onto my leg. So i pointed at it and said "oh my shoe got centipede" and solomon went to flick it off.
Next we went to clear up one of the rooms for the sec 1s to sleep in cos it was super wet and they didn't have to sleep in the tents. Pity those who had to pitch the tents lar. Then the sec 1s went for dinner and everything but since it was still raining they had to sit inside our dorm, which was used as an mph, and our bags were thrown..thrown into one corner. So xin tong.
The night activity, kidnapped. One person from each class was taken away. Amazing lar my class don't even know who was taken away. And 1f got 2 people volunteer lol lol lol. Amazingly my class was the first to finish, after doing many activites like singing school song and national anthem, popping balloons and writing out hwa chong institution with their butts.
We got punished by chief andrew on the first night, i think mostly miscommunications. Cos we had 3 different debriefs, sec 1 debrief, individual isntructors debrief, sl debrief, then we were only told that we bathe at night. And he told those who watned to bathe that they could bathe after the debrief. So after the sec 1s were debriefed some of the sl went to bathe, and we got punished.
Went to debrief my own class cos the instructors disappeared o.o
So after that those proed and aphelion sl had to do sentry duty at different time slots, and the rest will pump up the many floats with one electric pump, which takes like 5 minutes to pump one float. Shyhhorng and i took the last shift, 5.30-6.30am. I slept at around 3+, woke up at 5 to get ready for sentry. So yea i slept slightly less than 2 hours lol. Amazing right. Instructors slept more lol.
For second day it was raining at the start again, so we went to 1f bunk and practice all the cheering. Quite high lar, but i started to lose my voice. Shouting at my class and trying to get them to walk in 2 lines and keep quiet was also contributing to that. They really can't listen to instructions lar. Okay that aside, yangcheng and i planned out the whole routine for the campfire cheering.
Next we split into groups to do group activities. My group and group 10 were doing entanglement, which is the thing u must try to entangle yourselves so that everyone standing in one circle. My group was unable to even get the right hand to the right hand and left hand to the left even after a lot of times of restarting. Mr charles low came and he went to play with group 10 lol.
The weather was slightly better after that, so they went to do water rafting which was basically tying floats together and trying to fit as many people as possible. 1E showed their eyepower skills, like 10 people were actually doing something and the rest were standing around staring, talking among themselves or kicking stuff around. They don't even listen to the instructors or sl lar, they got am angry and she just walked off. So they apologised, and i got them cheering while waiting for their turn to try out their raft in the lagoon..which was slowly becoming a beach since the tide was getting lower and lower.
Next we had orienteering. I had to teach them how to use a compass and how to do pacing. But i think the orienteering is really reallyyyyyyyy basic. I told am that i teached the pacing wrongly and she said nevermind just let them have a try only. Throughout the orienteering they weren't lsitening to us again and like anyhow walk here walk there, so am went to walk somewhere else again. 1E is really like, can't learn lar, just pissed their instructor off in the previous activity and straight away forget what happened, piss her off again.
After dinner and washing up we had our last camp fire preperation, then singing songs. lol the titanic song

Next was campfire! It was held in the basketball court, quite unique lar. And the campfire was lit by this ball of paper which would slide down like flying fox into the pile of wood, so they released it too early and mr tok was like chasing after it to make sure it was lighted lol. ProEd was the only one that did all cheering, quite zai lar. One group did left toe right toe, lol "same old shit again" and another one did count and a count. We requested for sl to have our own item.

We then invited some of the instructors up and did the fruit cheers lol, including chief andrew.
Then we did count and a count.
The instructors prepared a slideshow for us, nice lar and quite sad also, cos it's like we can really look back and see what happened over the 2 days.
Next we had to get the classes to move to their sleeping areas, then sl went for debrief and stuff. After bathing we had to deflate the float, so everyone was like lying on the floats to squeeze air out and falling asleep.
For instructor debrief, am brought out the point that 1E was hard to control. Usually it'll be like first day hard to control, after that they'll get better lar. But 1E is like first day hard to control, 2nd day even harder. After they know us better, they know we won't punish them they start ignoring totally.
No sentry duty, so we got to sleep a bit more. I think the sec 1s quite enthu, always wake up so early, they they'll walk past our dorm and cos it's only a fence they'll be like wah sl still sleeping. They have no idea how much sleep we have lol.
For the last day..today, we cleaned up. My voice was almost all gone lol. But again, quite shuang to have the shout until no voice feeling. We went for debrief held by teachers. lol quite funny, he was trying to say you all are like one solid..solid..solid piece of..and i thought of something that is quite funny but i shan't say it since my blog is pg. Okay in the end he said metal, because metals have ionic bonds and most of them exist as a solid at room temperature. Jia han stayed on even though he had the red eye thing. Then they asked us to do a cheer in the teachers bunk, so we did whoosh. SL WHOOSH! =D
Some final words by the teachers, then we got on the ferry back to singapore. lol yangcheng kept niaoing am's malay accent, so bad lar. Reached marina bay pier, final farewells to instructors and we were back in school. It was nice knowing them =)
I think this camp taugh me quite alot of stuff. Won't be able to list all of them out now since i'm already like half asleep. Hopefully 1E will become a better class. And i think it's quite sad how the instructors are like one of the closest people during the 3 days of camp, and after the camp it's possible that we won't see them forever, maybe except yangcheng since david lives near him.
Okay this post is quite long..quite. I feel accomplished, i took more than 2 hours to type this lol, more than my first night sleeping time. Hopefully i get most of my voice back soon.
